casa Johanna

Testimony

“I wanted to bring back the glory of this classic apartment from 1906 and Pieter was the best partner I could have wished for.

My vision was to make the original features shine, while modernising the layout and facilities to create a generous, light-filled family home.

With Pieter, none of my ideas were too complicated or undoable, we never made quick compromises and instead, found another way or a workaround. He indulged my love for detail and my strive for perfection. Thanks to him, the vision I had for this place the first moment that I stepped inside it, became a reality.”

Living room

“The apartment had undergone some works, and we suspected that we would find some treasures hidden behind tiles and walls.

As we broke open the plain tiles in the living room, we were greeted with a beautiful set of original hydraulic tiles. Half of them were broken, so one side was fully restored and polished, and the rest was filled with micro cement in a colour to complement the existing tile work.”

Bathroom

“The kitchen was previously hidden in the back, but I wanted a second large bathroom, and a big open kitchen towards the front.

So Pieter transformed this old dark kitchen into a beautiful classic bathroom, executing my exact vision to perfection: A chessboard tile pattern lines the floor and comes back in the wall. A generous shower nook profits from natural light, and a build-in laundry corner hides away supplies.

He welcomed the many vintage pieces I collected and installed them all, including a 1970 wash basin to give this bathroom a true character.”

Ceiling

“I first fell in love with this apartment looking at the celings. The crown moudings were absolutely beautiful, but they needed work. You could see some tears inside, and it was in desperate need of a paint job.

Pieter repaired all the tears and made them basically invisible, painting the ceilngs to give them a fresh new start.”
